Apple takes pride in these new software updates since they allow Apple users to experience better performance and better features. But as proud as they are of the new iOS 10, they also acknowledge that the new update does come with its own set of challenges. One of the most problematic has been simply an iOS 10 update fail on some devices for some users.

In this post we are going to be looking at some of the causes of this iOS 10 update fail and what you can do to fix it.

Part 1: What is it and what causes it?

This is an error that occurs immediately after the user agrees to the terms and conditions while performing an OTA update. The error message simply says “an error has occurred downloading iOS 10.”

iOS 10 Update Fails to Work

This is actually a widespread problem among iPhone and iPad users around the world so you are not the only one. Apple is yet to release official communication as to why this could be happening but it is safe to guess that Apple servers could be having trouble taking in so many downloads requests at the same time. In this case, you can simply wait and then try to reinstall the download a little later.

It is also very likely that there could be a larger underlying issue. If you keep up with the latest news you will notice that Apple has recently released an update of the iOS 10 because many older devices have been having problems. If there is a larger issue causing the problem, you can rest assured that Apple will offer an update to fix the bug.

Despite the fact that we cannot pinpoint the major cause of the issue (only Apple can tell us) we have come up with a way to fix this particular problem as you shall see shortly.

Part 2: How to Solve the iOS 10 Update Failed Problem

The following are just some of the solutions that you can try on your iPhone or iPad. It is not a complete guarantee that they will work but trying couldn’t hurt.

Reboot your device

Simply rebooting your device has been known to work wonders for so many problems, why not this one. After the reboot, you should also reboot your Wi-Fi router. The problem could be your internet connection.

Have some Patience

Sometimes a little patience goes a long way. It could be that the Apple servers are currently overloaded. Just wait a few hours and then try installing the update again when the Apple servers are not so busy. This solution has worked for many who thought they couldn't update their device only for the process to work a few hours later.
