Get Lots of Free Space By Clearing Message/iMessage Cache on iPhone/iPad

You may be familiar with a section of your iOS device's data that is often referred to as "Other" data. The truth is that this data takes up so much space on your iPhone or iPad that sometimes the device doesn't quite function as it should. This data occupies too much space on your device that you find you sometimes don't have enough space for anything else even system functions.

So to create adequate space and get your device performance back to normal, you need to get rid of this "Other" data. If you rely a lot on texts and iMessages to communicate, then some of your "Other" data may be composed of message cache. A lot of this memory is taken up by the photos, videos and other media that you share via messages.

This is why it is important to know how to delete iMessages from your iPhone and not just delete them but clear the cache as well. A system restore doesn't always work to remove the messages cache because when you create a backup of your device, all the cache is also stored in the backup.

Fortunately, we have a solution that allows you to completely get rid of the messages cache. In this article, we are going to look at how this program, iBackupbot to edit the iPhone/iPad backup and remove the Message cache.

Part 1: Begin with Creating a Backup of your Device

Before we do anything, it is important to create a backup of your device. This way if anything goes wrong, you can simply restore your device from this recent backup and not lose any of your data.

Here's how to create a backup via iTunes.

Step 1:  Open iTunes on your computer and then connect the device to the computer

Step 2: Under devices click on "Backup Now" and wait for the backup to complete.

Now that we have a recent backup, we can safely proceed to clear Messages cache. Follow these simple steps to do this.

Step 2: From the Side-plane, ensure that you select this recent backup (check the date) and navigate to System Files > Mediadomain > Library > SMS> Attachments.
