It is also possible to disable the lock screen widgets in case the user finds it unpleasing.

Part 1: How to enable and disable lock screen

Every Android device arrives with a lock screen that appears first when it wakes up from sleep. A majority of the lock screens have the presence of widgets and shortcuts to favorite apps. Although it eases the ability to gain access to these applications right from the lock screen, they usually slow down the process of venturing into the desktop and other applications. It is also possible to add an added level of security by choosing a password or unlock pattern to the lock screen. In case, if you prefer not to type or draw something every time the device wakes up from sleep, then it is possible to disable the lock screen altogether.

The addition of the lock screen provides an added level of security that prevents any other person from looking at the content of the device.

Part 2: Different Unlocking Methods

The lock screen has various options of unlocking the device. The following gives details about the variety of different ways that exist on an Android device:

1.Slide -the options allows you to slide a finger on the icon that appears on the lock screen to unlock the device. There is no additional security provided by this method. It simply locks the phone and prevents it from unlocking accidentally if it is in a bag, pocket or due to the pressing of the power button.

2.Face Unlock- the option uses the device's camera to click a picture of the user's face. It is important for the user to look at the device each time he or she wishes to log in. The feature is less secure than using passwords or patterns because theoretically it is possible for any individual to login to the device with a picture of the user. There is a possibility that the option can recognize any other person as the user as it is not accurate. It is fun to play with the option but relying solely on it for security is not feasible.

3.Pattern- the option uses a grid of nine dots that allows the user to create a pattern to unlock the phone. It is a convenient and a faster way to unlock the device. The option does not provide high security as needed by the user. There is a possibility for a third party to guess the pattern by looking at the residue of the oil that the finger leaves behind each time the user slides in the same direction. It also offers fewer combinations, narrowing down the possibility of creating a high-security pattern.

4.PIN -the option creates a numerical pin code to unlock the device. It uses numbers and must have a minimum of four characters. A pin code is similar to a password but uses only numbers.

5.Password- users have the ability to create a password that is a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. The minimum length required the creation of the password is four characters long. Many users keep away from using this option, as it is inconvenient to unlock the device. However, password provides the highest security of the device as it is difficult for any other person to guess the letters, numbers or special characters.

Part 3: Customizing Lock Screen Wallpapers

It is possible to change the wallpaper of the lock screen by going into the devices settings. Select the wallpaper option available under the personalization category. In the next window, select the lock screen and choose any one of the wallpapers listed on the screen to select one of them as the wallpaper.

The other way to change the wallpaper of the lock screen is by going to the gallery. Open a particular picture from the gallery. Press the menu button to open up a pop-up menu. From the pop-up menu, select set as option and choose lock screen from the bunch of options that appear.

Customizing the lock screen of an Android device provides security and the option to personalize the appearance. Following the procedure explained above will be helpful for beginners who wish to choose a particular lock screen method or wallpaper according to their convenience.
