Once opened, these media files disappear from the chat and are not saved to the device gallery. Follow these steps to attempt recovery using specialized software:
- Connect the Honor phone to a computer using a compatible USB cable.
- Launch the Android data recovery application and select the WhatsApp recovery module.
- Initiate a device scan to locate cached files or hidden WhatsApp data.
- Preview the scanned files to identify the required view once photo.
- Select the target photo and execute the recovery command to save the file to the computer.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Issue: The device is not recognized by the computer. Cause: USB debugging is disabled on the Honor phone. Fix: Enable Developer Options and activate USB debugging in the device settings.
- Issue: The recovered photo is corrupted or unviewable. Cause: The temporary cache file was overwritten by new device data. Fix: Stop using the device immediately after the photo disappears to prevent data overwriting.
- Issue: The recovery software fails to access WhatsApp data. Cause: Insufficient permissions granted to the software. Fix: Grant all requested administrative or root permissions to the recovery tool during the scanning process.
Quick Tips
- Always attempt to capture the screen using a secondary device before opening a view once photo.
