How to Enable Auto Blocker on Samsung Galaxy for Extra Security
Samsung Auto Blocker is a security feature introduced in One UI 6 that prevents unauthorized app installations, malicious commands via USB, and software updates from unofficial sources.
What Does Auto Blocker Do?
- Blocks sideloading (installing APK files from unknown sources)
- Blocks USB commands that could install malware via cable
- Checks app security before installation
- Can detect and block real-time threats from ADB attacks
How to Enable Auto Blocker
- Go to Settings → Security and Privacy → Auto Blocker.
- Toggle Auto Blocker on.
- Configure sub-options:
- Block app installs: Prevents any APK from being installed outside Play/Galaxy Store
- Block commands: Prevents USB from executing commands on your device
- App security check: Scans apps for threats before/after installation
Pros & Cons of Auto Blocker
✅ Pros:
- Strong protection against USB-based attacks (e.g., juice jacking)
- Stops accidental malware installation
- Free built-in Samsung security
⚠️ Cons:
- Blocks sideloading (you can't install APKs from files)
- May block legitimate developer tools (USB debugging can be restricted)
- USB Debugging will be greyed out unless Auto Blocker is disabled
When to Disable Auto Blocker
If you're a developer needing USB debugging: temporarily disable Auto Blocker → enable USB debugging → re-enable Auto Blocker after.
