How to Enable Two-Step Verification for Your Samsung Account
Two-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security to your Samsung account — even if someone steals your password, they can't access your account without your phone or email.
How to Enable Two-Step Verification
- Go to account.samsung.com in a browser.
- Sign in → go to Security → Two-Step Verification.
- Tap Turn On.
- Choose your verification method:
- SMS — code sent to your registered phone number
- Email — code sent to your email
- Authenticator app — (most secure) use Google Authenticator or Samsung Pass
Setting Up Authenticator App (Recommended)
- Download Google Authenticator or Authy on your phone.
- In Samsung account 2FA settings, choose Authenticator App.
- Scan the QR code displayed on screen.
- Enter the 6-digit code to confirm setup.
- Save the backup codes somewhere safe.
2FA Method Comparison
| Method | Security Level | Convenience |
|---|---|---|
| SMS code | ⚠️ Medium (SIM-swappable) | ✅ Easy |
| Email code | ⚠️ Medium | ✅ Easy |
| Authenticator app | ✅✅ High | ⚠️ Requires app |
Why Samsung Account Security Matters
Your Samsung account controls Find My Mobile, Samsung Cloud backups, Samsung Pay access, and Secure Folder. A compromised account exposes all of these.
