How to Use Lockdown Mode to Quickly Disable Biometrics on Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Galaxy's Lockdown Mode is a quick-access security feature that immediately disables fingerprint, face recognition, and lock screen notifications — requiring only your PIN/password to unlock.
When to Use Lockdown Mode
- Going through airport security or police checkpoints
- Handing your phone to someone temporarily
- In situations where you might be compelled to unlock with biometrics
- Before entering a high-security area
How to Enable the Lockdown Option
- Go to Settings → Security and Privacy → Lock Screen.
- Toggle on Show Lockdown Option.
How to Activate Lockdown
Press and hold the Side (Power) button → tap Lockdown in the power menu.
What Lockdown Mode Does
- ✅ Disables fingerprint unlock
- ✅ Disables face recognition unlock
- ✅ Hides lock screen notifications
- ✅ Requires PIN/password to unlock (not biometrics)
- ✅ Active until you manually unlock and dismiss
Exiting Lockdown Mode
Enter your PIN, pattern, or password at the lock screen — biometrics automatically re-enable after one successful PIN unlock.
Note:
Lockdown Mode doesn't power off or wipe your phone — it only restricts biometric access. For emergency data wipe, use Find My Mobile remotely.
