What to Do If Your Samsung Galaxy Is Stolen: Step-by-Step Guide
If your Samsung Galaxy was stolen, every minute counts. Follow these steps immediately to protect your data and maximize your chances of recovery.
Step 1: Go to Find My Mobile (Immediately)
From any computer: visit findmymobile.samsung.com and log in with your Samsung account.
- See the phone's current location
- Ring the phone
- Lock it with a custom contact message
Step 2: Change Your Samsung Account Password
Log into account.samsung.com → change your password immediately to prevent the thief from disabling Find My Mobile.
Step 3: Change Google Account Password
Log into myaccount.google.com → Security → change password. This prevents access to Gmail, Google Pay, and all synced apps.
Step 4: Contact Your Mobile Carrier
Call your carrier to suspend or blacklist the SIM card. They can also IMEI-block the device to make it unusable on any network.
Step 5: Report to Police
File a theft report with your local police. Provide the IMEI number (find it in your previous phone settings backup or original box) and any Find My Mobile location data.
Step 6: Remote Wipe (Last Resort)
If you believe recovery is impossible, remote-wipe your Galaxy via Find My Mobile to erase all personal data.
Step 7: Check for Unauthorized Account Activity
- Review bank/payment app transactions
- Check Google account login activity (myaccount.google.com → Security → Recent activity)
Preventive Actions to Do RIGHT NOW
- Enable Find My Mobile (if not already)
- Note your IMEI: dial *#06#
- Set a strong screen lock (not face only)
