How to Apply a Tempered Glass Screen Protector on Xiaomi / Redmi Phone
A tempered glass screen protector is the best defense against screen scratches and cracks. Here's how to apply one perfectly on your Xiaomi phone — no bubbles, no misalignment.
What You'll Need
- Tempered glass protector (model-specific, preferably fingerprint-compatible for AMOLED models)
- Cleaning cloths (usually included in the package)
- Alcohol wipe or screen cleaning spray
- A dust-free environment (bathroom after hot shower works well — steam settles dust)
Step-by-Step Application
Step 1: Clean the screen thoroughly
Use the alcohol wipe to clean the screen surface. Then use the dry microfiber cloth to wipe away any residue. Remove every fingerprint and dust particle.
Step 2: Use the dust removal sticker
Most tempered glass kits include a dust removal sticker (looks like tape). Press it lightly on the screen and peel off to lift remaining dust particles.
Step 3: Check alignment before applying
Hold the tempered glass over the phone without removing the backing film. Verify the cutouts align with the camera, speakers, and buttons.
Step 4: Peel and place
Remove the backing film from the tempered glass. Align one edge (usually the top, near the earpiece) and slowly lower the glass onto the screen. The adhesive will pull it into alignment.
Step 5: Press out bubbles
Use a card or the included applicator to press from the center outward, pushing any air bubbles to the edges.
Fingerprint Sensor Compatibility
For phones with under-display fingerprint sensors (Xiaomi 13, 14, 15, Redmi Note 13 Pro+ series), use a screen protector specifically labeled "Fingerprint Compatible" or "UDFPS Compatible". Standard tempered glass can block the optical sensor.
After applying, re-register your fingerprint in Settings > Biometrics & Password > Fingerprint Unlock for best recognition with the protector on.
