How to Back Up All Data on Xiaomi Phone to Mi Cloud or PC
Regular backups protect you from data loss due to factory resets, phone theft, or accidental deletion. Xiaomi HyperOS offers multiple backup methods.
Method 1: Mi Cloud Backup (Wireless, Automatic)
Setup:
1. Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud
2. Enable "Back up & Sync"
3. Toggle on what to back up: Contacts, Photos, Notes, Call logs, SMS, App data
Automatic backup: Mi Cloud can back up automatically daily when connected to Wi-Fi and charging.
Storage: Free Mi Cloud includes 5 GB. Upgrade to 50 GB, 200 GB, or 2 TB via subscription.
Method 2: Local Backup to Phone Storage
Settings → Additional Settings → Backup & Restore → Local Backups → Create Backup. This creates an encrypted backup file on internal storage. Good before a factory reset (then copy the backup to PC before resetting).
Method 3: Google Backup
Settings → Google → Backup → toggle ON. Google backs up:
- App data and settings
- Contacts (to Google Contacts)
- Calendar (to Google Calendar)
- SMS (if enabled)
- Wi-Fi passwords
Restore by signing into the same Google account on a new device.
Method 4: PC Backup via Dr.Fone or HyperConnect
Dr.Fone – Phone Backup lets you back up all data types (including WhatsApp, photos, contacts, videos) to your Windows or Mac computer in one click — with selective restore capability. This is ideal for a full, reliable backup before a major change.
