How to Enable Second Space on Xiaomi for Private Content

Second Space is Xiaomi's most powerful privacy feature — it creates a completely separate phone profile with its own apps, wallpaper, accounts, and PIN. Switch between your main phone and your private space instantly.

What Is Second Space?

Think of it as having two phones in one. The Second Space is completely isolated from your main space:

  • Separate installed apps
  • Separate Google / Mi Account logins
  • Separate photos and files
  • Separate PIN / fingerprint / face ID
  • Even separate phone wallpaper and home screen layout
How to Set Up Second Space
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down to Special Features (or search "Second Space")
  3. Tap Second Space
  4. Tap "Turn on Second Space"
  5. Set a separate lock screen password for the Second Space
  6. Choose how to switch between spaces (dedicated shortcut, lock screen switch, or Quick Settings toggle)
Switching Between Spaces
  • Method 1: Pull down the notification shade → tap the user icon → select space
  • Method 2: Lock the phone → on the lock screen, switch account
  • Method 3: Go to Settings → Second Space → Switch
Second Space vs. Dual Apps: Which to Use?

Important Notes
  • Second Space requires sufficient storage (at least 8–10 GB free recommended)
  • Some banking apps may detect the Second Space environment — use main space for those
  • To delete Second Space: Settings → Second Space → Delete Second Space (erases all data in that space only)
