How to Fix Bluetooth Earphones Not Pairing or Connecting to Xiaomi Phone
Bluetooth earphones that won't pair or keep disconnecting from your Xiaomi phone are frustrating. Here's how to resolve the most common pairing issues.
Quick Fixes (Try These First)
- Put earphones back in the case for 10 seconds, then re-open the case — this puts them back into pairing mode
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on on your Xiaomi phone
- Restart the phone to clear Bluetooth stack errors
- Move closer — maintain under 1 meter during initial pairing
Fix 1: Forget and Re-pair the Device
Settings → Bluetooth → find the earphones in "Paired Devices" → tap the ⚙️ icon → "Forget". Then put earphones back in pairing mode and pair fresh.
Fix 2: Clear Bluetooth Cache
Settings → Apps → Manage Apps → tap ⋮ (three dots) → "Show system apps" → find "Bluetooth" → Clear cache → restart phone.
Fix 3: Check for Interference
Other Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi on 2.4GHz, and even microwave ovens can interfere with Bluetooth. Test pairing in a different room or switch phone Wi-Fi to 5GHz.
Fix 4: Reset Network Settings
Settings → Additional Settings → Backup & Reset → Reset Network Settings. This clears all Bluetooth pairings and Wi-Fi settings — a fresh start for Bluetooth.
Fix 5: Factory Reset the Earphones
Most Bluetooth earphones have a factory reset procedure (usually holding a button for 10+ seconds). Check the earphone manual. After resetting, pair them as a new device.
Fix 6: HyperOS Bluetooth Version Conflict
Some older earphones use Bluetooth 4.x and may have compatibility issues with HyperOS's Bluetooth 5.x stack. Check if there's a firmware update for your earphones via their companion app (e.g., Mi AI/Earphones app for Xiaomi earbuds, or manufacturer's app).
