How to Fix GPS Not Working Accurately on Xiaomi / Redmi Phone
Fix xiaomi GPS not working and redmi gps inaccurate. Solve poco gps fix for google maps xiaomi location wrong with hyperos gps issue.
Inaccurate or non-functioning GPS is a common issue on Xiaomi phones, especially after an HyperOS update. Here's how to get your location pinpointed correctly again.
Step 1: Enable High Accuracy Mode
Go to Settings > Location and set the mode to High Accuracy (uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks). "Battery Saving" mode disables GPS hardware, causing inaccuracy.
Step 2: Refresh AGPS Data
AGPS (Assisted GPS) data helps your phone lock onto satellites faster. Install the GPS Status & Toolbox app from the Play Store → tap Menu (⋮) > Manage AGPS State > Reset, then Download. This forces a fresh satellite almanac download.
Step 3: Grant Location Permission to the App
Go to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > [Map/Navigation App] > Permissions > Location → set to "Allow all the time".
Step 4: Remove the Phone Case
Metal or thick plastic cases can interfere with GPS antenna reception. Test GPS accuracy without the case.
Step 5: Calibrate the Compass
Open Google Maps → tap the blue dot → Calibrate Compass → move the phone in a figure-8 pattern. This helps with directional accuracy.
Step 6: Check for Interference
Strong magnetic fields (car mounts, magnetic wallets) can disrupt GPS. Test in an open outdoor location away from tall buildings.
Step 7: Update HyperOS and Google Play Services
GPS performance improvements are regularly shipped via updates. Check for updates in Settings > About Phone > System Update and the Play Store.
Step 8: Reset Location Settings
Settings → Additional Settings → Reset Location Settings. This clears any misconfigured location permissions.
