How to Create a Xiaomi Mi Account for Your Redmi / POCO Phone

A Mi Account (called Xiaomi Account on newer HyperOS phones) is required for Mi Cloud backup, Find My Device, Mi Store purchases, and full access to Xiaomi services.

What Is Mi Account Used For?

Method 1 – Create During First Boot Setup

1. Power on your new Xiaomi phone.
2. Follow the setup wizard until you reach Sign in with Mi Account.
3. Tap Create account.
4. Enter your email address or phone number.
5. Set a strong password and verify via the code sent to email/phone.
6. Accept terms and complete profile.

Method 2 – Create After Setup (Existing Phone)

1. Settings → Mi Account (or Settings → [Your Name] on HyperOS).
2. Tap Sign in → Create new account.
3. Choose email or phone number as your identifier.
4. Enter verification code → set password → done.

Method 3 – Create Online via Browser

1. Visit account.xiaomi.com.
2. Click Create account.
3. Choose region, enter phone number or email.
4. Verify and set password.
5. Use the same credentials to sign in on your phone.

Account Security Tips

• Use a unique password not shared with other services.
• Enable Two-Factor Authentication: Mi Account → Security → Two-step verification → on.
• Add both a phone number and email as recovery options — losing both makes account recovery very difficult.
• Write down your Mi Account credentials and store them safely — forgetting your Mi Account password can result in account lock after factory reset.
