How to Sync Contacts and Calendar from Mi Cloud to New Xiaomi Phone

Mi Cloud keeps your contacts and calendar synced across all Xiaomi devices — restoring them to a new phone takes just a few taps.

Prerequisites

• Your old phone had Mi Cloud contacts sync enabled.
• You remember your Mi Account email and password.
• New Xiaomi phone has internet access.

Step 1 – Sign In to Mi Account on New Phone

1. During first-boot setup wizard: Sign in with Mi Account → enter credentials.
2. Or after setup: Settings → Mi Account → Sign in.

Step 2 – Enable Contact Sync

1. Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud.
2. Toggle Contacts on.
3. Contacts will sync automatically within 1–5 minutes.
4. Check in the Contacts app — all previously synced contacts should appear.

Step 3 – Enable Calendar Sync

1. Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud → Calendar → toggle on.
2. Open Calendar app — events from Mi Cloud appear automatically.
3. If using Google Calendar: also ensure Google Account sync is enabled separately.

Step 4 – Manual Restore (If Auto-Sync Doesn't Work)

1. Go to i.mi.com on a browser.
2. Click Contacts → Export → download as .vcf file.
3. Email the .vcf file to yourself.
4. Open on new phone → tap to import contacts.

Sync Status Check

1. Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud → Contacts → Last synced: shows timestamp.
2. If sync is stuck: tap Sync now to force manual sync.

Contacts Source Confusion (Common Issue)

After syncing, you may see duplicate contacts. This happens if contacts were saved to both Mi Cloud and Google Account:
1. Open Contacts app → Settings → Manage contacts → Merge duplicates.
2. Review and merge.

• Contacts saved to Phone storage (not Mi Cloud or Google) are NOT synced and will be lost if you factory reset. Always save contacts to a cloud account.
• Mi Cloud contacts sync works internationally — even if you switch countries, your contacts follow your Mi Account.
