How to Recover Deleted Photos or Files on Xiaomi / Redmi Phone
Accidentally deleted an important photo or file on your Xiaomi? Don't panic — there are several ways to recover it, especially if you act quickly.
Step 1: Check Gallery Recycle Bin (Fastest)
HyperOS Gallery app has a Recycle Bin that holds deleted photos for 30 days:
1. Open Gallery
2. Tap ☰ (menu) → "Recycle Bin" (or Albums → Recycle Bin)
3. Select the photos you want to restore → tap "Restore"
This is by far the easiest recovery method — always check here first.
Step 2: Check Mi Cloud Trash
If you had Mi Cloud photo sync enabled:
1. Go to i.mi.com on a browser → sign in
2. Open Photos → Recycle Bin
3. Select deleted photos → "Restore"
Mi Cloud keeps deleted photos for 30 days before permanent deletion.
Step 3: Check Google Photos Bin
If Google Photos backup was enabled:
1. Open Google Photos app
2. Tap Library → Trash
3. Items are kept for 60 days
4. Select and tap "Restore"
Step 4: File Manager Recycle Bin
For deleted documents, downloads, and other files:
Open Mi File Manager → tap ☰ → "Recycle Bin". Deleted files are kept here for 30 days.
Step 5: Professional Data Recovery (After Recycle Bin is Empty)
If all recycle bins are empty and you need to recover permanently deleted files:
Dr.Fone – Data Recovery (Android) can scan your Xiaomi's internal storage for recoverable data — photos, contacts, messages, and documents — even after deletion. Connect the phone to a PC and run the scan.
⚠️ Critical: Do not take new photos or download files after deleting something important — new data overwrites the deleted data's storage space, making recovery impossible.
