How to Set Up App Lock (Password-Protect Individual Apps) on Xiaomi
App Lock lets you add an extra layer of security to individual apps on your Xiaomi phone — so even if someone picks up your unlocked device, they can't access your banking app or private chats without a second authentication.
How to Enable App Lock
- Go to Settings > Apps > App Lock
- Authenticate with your current lock screen PIN/fingerprint
- Toggle ON the apps you want to protect
- Set the unlock method: Fingerprint, Pattern, PIN, or Password
That's it — the selected apps will require authentication every time they're opened.

Advanced App Lock Settings
Lock timing: Choose when App Lock kicks in:
- Immediately — re-locks as soon as you leave the app
- After 1/5/30 minutes — stays unlocked briefly for convenience
Hide notification content: Go to App Lock settings → enable "Hide notification content" for locked apps. This prevents sensitive message previews from appearing on the lock screen.
Show password prompt: Enable so the lock screen shows an unlock prompt rather than a blank screen (avoids confusion for legitimate users).
Reset App Lock PIN
If you forget the App Lock PIN (different from your phone PIN), go to Settings > Apps > App Lock → tap "Forgot password" → verify with Mi Account to reset.
