How to Use Split Screen on Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO Phones
Split Screen lets you run two apps simultaneously on your Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone — perfect for reading while chatting, or browsing while watching a video.
Method 1: From Recent Apps (Easiest)
- Tap the Recents button (square icon) or swipe up and hold
- Find the app you want in the top half
- Tap the app icon at the top of the app card (not the card itself)
- Select "Split Screen" from the menu
- The app moves to the top half — select the second app from Recent Apps or your home screen for the bottom half
Method 2: Using Quick Ball
If you have Quick Ball enabled (see Article 30), add "Split Screen" as one of its shortcuts. Then:
- Open the first app
- Tap Quick Ball → Split Screen
- Choose the second app
Method 3: Drag from Sidebar (HyperOS Sidebar)
Enable Sidebar in Settings → Additional Settings → Sidebar Toolbar. Then drag an app icon from the sidebar onto the screen to open it in split view.
Adjusting Split Screen
- Drag the center divider up or down to give more space to one app
- Swap apps by tapping the center divider icon → Swap
- Exit split screen: drag the divider all the way to the top or bottom
Supported Apps
Most apps support split screen, but a few (games, full-screen video apps) may refuse. If an app shows "doesn't support split screen," it's an app-level restriction — not a Xiaomi limitation.
Pro Tip
Save a split-screen pair as a Quick App Pair (HyperOS 2): long-press the split screen divider → "Create App Pair" → pin to home screen for one-tap launch of both apps together.
