Deleting your Samsung Account is permanent and removes access to Samsung Cloud data, Find My Mobile, and all Samsung services. Here's what to know before you proceed — and exactly how to do it.
⚠️ What You Lose When Deleting a Samsung Account
Before deleting, understand the consequences:
- Samsung Cloud data deleted: All backed-up contacts, photos, documents, and app data stored in Samsung Cloud are permanently removed.
- Find My Mobile disabled: You can no longer remotely locate, ring, or lock your Galaxy.
- Galaxy Store purchases: Apps and games purchased from Galaxy Store become inaccessible.
- Samsung Pay: All registered cards are removed.
- Bixby personalization: Voice history and preferences are erased.
Step 1: Back Up Your Data First
- Samsung Cloud: Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud > Back up data — do a final backup.
- Download your data: visit account.samsung.com > Privacy > Download my data — exports a ZIP of your Samsung account data.
- Transfer photos: Download all Samsung Cloud photos to local storage or Google Photos.
Step 2: Remove Samsung Account from Your Galaxy (Without Deleting)
If you just want to remove the account from your phone (e.g., before selling), without full deletion:
- Settings > tap your profile at top > Samsung Account.
- Tap the three-dot menu (top right) > Remove account.
- Enter your Samsung Account password to confirm.
- The account is removed from this device but still exists online.
Step 3: Fully Delete the Samsung Account
To permanently close and delete the account:
- Visit account.samsung.com from a browser.
- Sign in and go to Account settings > Security > Delete account.
- Or: Mobile app — Samsung Account app > Profile > Delete account.
- Review the warning screen and confirm what will be deleted.
- Enter your password and select the reason for deletion.
- Tap Delete to confirm. The account enters a 30-day grace period — you can reactivate within 30 days by logging in.
- After 30 days, the account and all associated data are permanently deleted.
Removing Samsung Account Before Factory Reset (for Selling)
This is critical — if you factory reset without removing the Samsung Account, the new owner may encounter the Factory Reset Protection (FRP) lock, making the phone unusable until your credentials are entered.
Always sign out of Samsung Account before factory resetting:
Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Samsung account > Remove account.
