How to Fix Samsung Galaxy Not Charging
If your Samsung Galaxy isn't charging, the problem could be hardware (cable, port, charger) or software (OS bug, charging settings). Here's how to diagnose and fix it.
Step 1: Check the Basics
- Try a different USB-C cable — cables are the most common cause of charging failure.
- Try a different charger (use a Samsung-approved 25W or 45W adapter).
- Make sure the power outlet works by testing with another device.
Step 2: Clean the Charging Port
Lint and debris in the USB-C port are a frequent culprit.
- Use a wooden toothpick or soft brush (not metal tools) to gently remove debris.
- Blow into the port with compressed air if available.
Step 3: Restart Your Phone
Sometimes a software glitch prevents the charging system from activating. A simple restart often resolves this.
Step 4: Check for Moisture Warning
One UI will show a moisture warning and disable charging if it detects moisture in the port.
- If you see this alert, wait 30–60 minutes for the port to dry completely before retrying.
Step 5: Check Charging Settings
- Go to Settings → Battery and Device Care → Battery and ensure no charging limits are incorrectly set.
- Make sure Battery Protection mode isn't restricting charging.
Step 6: Test in Safe Mode
Boot into Safe Mode (hold Power → long-press Power Off) to rule out a bad app interfering with charging.
When to Seek Repair
If none of the above works, the charging port or charging IC chip may be physically damaged. Visit a Samsung Service Center for professional diagnosis.
Dr.Fone Tip: If you need to repair your Galaxy's system settings that may be blocking charging, Dr.Fone – System Repair can reset Android system functions without a full factory reset.
