How to Back Up Data with Samsung Cloud on Your Galaxy

Setting Up Samsung Cloud Backup
Initial Setup
  1. Ensure you're signed into your Samsung Account (Settings > top profile icon).
  2. Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud.
  3. Tap Back up data.
  4. Review the list of data types — toggle on everything you want backed up.
  5. Tap Back up now to run an immediate backup.
Enable Auto Backup
  1. In Samsung Cloud settings, tap Auto backup.
  2. Toggle Auto backup ON.
  3. Set frequency: Daily (recommended) or Weekly.
  4. Enable Back up using Wi-Fi only — prevents large backups on mobile data.
  5. Enable Back up when charging — ensures backup runs overnight.
Checking Your Backup Status

Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud > Backed-up data:

  • See last backup date and time
  • View storage used per category
  • Manually trigger a new backup

Samsung photos/videos use the most storage. If you exceed 15GB, either upgrade storage or use Google Photos (unlimited via backup quality or Google One plan).

Restoring from Samsung Cloud Backup

After a factory reset or on a new Galaxy:

  1. During setup, sign in to Samsung Account when prompted.
  2. Select Restore from Samsung Cloud.
  3. Choose the most recent backup.
  4. Select which data types to restore.
  5. The device restores settings, contacts, messages, and app data.
