Samsung Galaxy has a built-in screen recorder that captures everything on your screen — including game audio, music, video, and system sounds. Here's how to use it effectively.
How to Start Screen Recording
Method 1: Quick Panel
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Panel.
- Swipe down again for the full Quick Panel.
- Tap the Screen recorder tile (if not visible, tap the + button to add it).
- A pop-up asks for Sound settings — choose your preferred audio option.
- Tap Start recording — a countdown begins (3...2...1).
- A red recording indicator and toolbar appear at the top.
- To stop: tap the Stop button (square) in the toolbar or notification bar.
Method 2: Side Key (One UI 5+)
Some Galaxy models allow assigning screen record to a custom gesture or button combination.
Audio Options Explained
When starting screen recording, you'll see:

Screen Recording Settings
Access at: Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder > Screen recorder settings
- Video quality: Standard, High, Very high (1080p)
- Selfie video size: Adds a floating webcam-style bubble showing your face (useful for reaction videos)
- Draw on screen while recording: Enable to draw/annotate live during recording
- Touches: Show taps as circles on the recording (good for tutorials)
Important Limitations
- DRM content: Streaming apps (Netflix, Disney+, Spotify) block screen recording — you'll get a blank/black screen.
- Banking apps: Most banking and payment apps block screen recording for security.
- Storage: Screen recordings are MP4 files — 1 minute of 1080p recording ≈ 100–300MB.
Where Are Screen Recordings Saved?
Galaxy > Gallery app > Albums > Screen recordings (also in Internal storage > DCIM > Screen recordings).
Editing Recordings
After recording, open in Gallery > Edit to trim the start/end. For more advanced editing, use Samsung Video Editor or a third-party app like CapCut.
