How to Fix iPhone 18 Boot Loop When Storage Was Full

If an iPhone repeatedly restarts after its storage became full, avoid treating the timing as proof of a single cause. The immediate problem is that the phone cannot finish starting. First give it time on power and try a normal restart. If it continues returning to the Apple logo or the Connect to Computer screen, use Apple recovery mode with a Mac or PC.

Before taking recovery actions, remember that an update and a restore are not the same. Apple recommends trying Update first when it is offered. Restore reinstalls iOS and erases the data on the iPhone.

Use recovery mode

  1. Connect the iPhone to a Mac with Finder or to a PC with the Apple Devices app.
  2. For iPhone 8 or later, quickly press Volume Up, quickly press Volume Down, then hold the Side button until the Connect to Computer screen appears.
  3. On the computer, select the device when it appears.
  4. Choose Update first if that option is available. Let the software download finish; if the device leaves the recovery screen during a long download, enter recovery mode again.

When Restore is the remaining option

If Update does not start the phone, the remaining Apple recovery option may be Restore. Use it only after understanding that it erases the iPhone. Afterward, set up the device and restore from a backup if one exists.

If the iPhone still cannot start after the supported update/recovery steps, Dr.Fone - System Repair provides a guided desktop workflow for iOS system issues before you move to a full erase or Restore.

Once the iPhone starts again, open Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Review storage recommendations and the largest apps before adding large backups or downloads. A phone that remains unable to update or restore through recovery mode may need service.
