How to Fix WhatsApp Transfer Failing After the iOS 27 Update

If your WhatsApp transfer fails after an iOS 27 update, treat the update timing as context rather than a confirmed cause. Start by checking the supported Move to iOS setup conditions, then restart the transfer from the correct setup stage if one of them is not met.

For Android-to-iPhone chat moves, the iPhone must be factory new or factory reset, and WhatsApp must not already be active on it. The same phone number must be used on both devices. Before the transfer, update WhatsApp on the Android phone. Keep both devices connected to power and use either the same Wi-Fi network or the iPhone hotspot connection.

Check the transfer before trying again

  • Confirm the iPhone is still in the setup flow. If setup has already been completed, back up anything you need from the iPhone before erasing it and starting setup again.
  • Open Move to iOS on the Android phone, enter the code shown on the iPhone, and select WhatsApp on the Transfer Data screen.
  • Keep both phones plugged in and close together. Leave Move to iOS onscreen on the Android phone while the transfer runs.
  • Wait for the loading bar on the iPhone to finish, even if Android appears to finish first. The iPhone loading bar is the completion signal for the device transfer.

If the transfer stops again

Restart both phones, then retry from the same setup-stage flow. On the Android phone, turn off cellular data and any setting that switches or optimizes Wi-Fi connections before retrying. Also make sure the data selected for transfer fits in the available iPhone storage.

Do not activate WhatsApp on the new iPhone before the Move to iOS transfer completes. Once the phone setup is finished, install WhatsApp from the App Store, sign in with the same number, and follow the prompt to import the transferred history.

Note:

This migration does not merge a newly created iPhone history with an older Android history. If WhatsApp was already activated on the new iPhone, returning it to setup state erases the iPhone, not just WhatsApp.

If you need a separate computer-based WhatsApp transfer workflow instead of repeating the setup-stage migration, Dr.Fone - WhatsApp Transfer provides a dedicated WhatsApp transfer workflow.
