How to Import a SIM Card to an iPhone?
If your iPhone uses a physical SIM, move the SIM to the new iPhone using the SIM tray tool. If your iPhone is eSIM-only, you’ll activate an eSIM instead of inserting a card.
Steps / Best Methods
- Power off both phones if possible.
- Insert a SIM-eject tool (or paper clip) into the small hole beside the SIM tray and gently eject it.
- Move the SIM into the new iPhone’s tray (it fits one way due to the notch) and reinsert fully.
- Turn on the iPhone and follow prompts; you may need carrier activation.
- For eSIM-only models, follow Apple’s eSIM setup methods (transfer, carrier activation, or QR code).
Note:
Don’t force a SIM tray—if it’s stuck, get help from your carrier or an Apple Store.
🤔Protip:
Some regions have eSIM-only models; check before you buy if you rely on a physical SIM.
