How to Share iCloud Storage with Family?
With Family Sharing, you can share an iCloud+ storage plan (like 200GB or 2TB) with family members while keeping everyone’s photos and files private by default.
Step 1: Set up Family Sharing
- Go to Settings > [your name].
- Tap Family (or Family Sharing).
- Tap Set Up Your Family and follow prompts to invite members.
Step 2: Share iCloud+ storage
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
- Tap Change Storage Plan (upgrade if needed).
- Enable Share with Family (wording can vary by iOS version).
What’s shared vs private?
| Item | Shared with family? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storage quota | Yes | Everyone draws from one pool |
| Photos & files | No (by default) | Still private unless you share manually |
| Purchases (apps/media) | Optional | Separate Family Sharing purchase setting |
Common problems
- Member can’t see shared storage: Ensure they accepted the invite and are signed into iCloud.
- Apple ID region mismatch: Some sharing features depend on region.
- Already in another family: Apple IDs can join only one Family Sharing group at a time.
🤔 Protip:
If family members need help migrating data to a new iPhone while staying organized, Wondershare Dr.Fone can assist with device-to-device transfers and backups alongside iCloud.
