How to Update iPhone Apps?

Keeping your apps up to date is essential for accessing new features, improving performance, and, most importantly, patching security vulnerabilities. Whether you prefer to handle updates manually or let your iPhone do the work for you, here is how to manage your app versions.

How to Update Apps Manually
  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top right of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to see Upcoming Automatic Updates or Available Updates.
  4. Tap Update next to a specific app, or tap Update All at the top of the list to download all available versions at once.
🤔 Note:

If you don't see an update you’re expecting, pull down on the "Account" screen to refresh the list.

How to Turn On Automatic Updates
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap App Store.
  3. Under the Automatic Downloads section, toggle on App Updates.
  4. (Optional) If you have a large data plan, you can toggle on Automatic Downloads under Cellular Data to update apps even when you aren't on Wi-Fi.
Why Should You Update Your Apps?
  1. Bug Fixes: Developers release updates to fix crashes and glitches reported by users.
  2. Security Patches: Updates often close loopholes that could be exploited by hackers to access your data.
  3. New Features: Many apps introduce their best UI changes and new tools through version updates.
  4. Compatibility: Updates ensure the app works perfectly with the latest version of iOS.
