How to Fix WhatsApp Greyed Out in Move to iOS ('No Items or Not Compatible with iOS')
If WhatsApp is visible in Move to iOS but greyed out, treat it as a different state from WhatsApp being completely missing. The official WhatsApp troubleshooting guidance documents setup requirements and several migration errors, but it does not define "No Items or Not Compatible with iOS" as a separate error code with one confirmed cause. Do not infer a cause from that wording alone; first verify the supported migration conditions.
Check why the visible WhatsApp option is unavailable
- Use a new or factory-reset iPhone and start the Android-to-iPhone migration during iPhone setup.
- On Android, make sure Move to iOS is installed and WhatsApp is current.
- Use the same phone number on the old Android phone and the new iPhone.
- Confirm Android 5 or later and iOS 15.5 or later, with both phones connected to power and the same Wi-Fi network or Android connected to the iPhone hotspot.
- Return to the Transfer Data screen and check WhatsApp again before continuing setup without it.
Keep setup-stage and post-transfer steps separate
Do not try to install or activate WhatsApp on the new iPhone as a workaround while the migration is still in setup. If WhatsApp becomes selectable, prepare the export on Android, let Move to iOS finish, complete iPhone setup, and only then install the latest WhatsApp from the App Store and import the chats with the same phone number.
Greyed out is not the same as missing
This page applies when WhatsApp is present but unavailable to select. If WhatsApp does not appear at all on the Transfer Data screen, troubleshoot the missing-option flow instead. WhatsApp also states that using other apps to move chats is not supported and may cause loss of chats, so do not replace the official migration with an unverified transfer app just because the option is disabled.
For a dedicated computer-based WhatsApp option, Dr.Fone - WhatsApp Transfer provides a WhatsApp transfer workflow.
