How to Fix WhatsApp Photos and Videos Missing After Transfer
If chats arrived after a transfer but WhatsApp photos or videos are missing, first confirm whether the transfer completed successfully and whether the missing media was included in the source. WhatsApp's Android-to-iPhone migration supports chats, media, and settings, but it does not transfer every data type. For example, WhatsApp call history and media received over WhatsApp Channels are excluded.
Check before starting another transfer
- Keep the old Android phone unchanged until you verify the data on the iPhone.
- Check that the iPhone had enough free storage for the Android content.
- Keep the same phone number for the migration and update WhatsApp on the Android phone before retrying.
- Do not use a Files-folder copy or an unsupported transfer app during the migration.
If Move to iOS did not finish, Apple recommends erasing the new iPhone and starting the transfer again after checking available storage. This erases the whole iPhone, so back up anything you need from it first. If the WhatsApp history came from an iCloud backup instead, WhatsApp says videos restore only when Include Videos was enabled before that backup was created.
WhatsApp cannot retrieve missing chats or media from its servers. Avoid deleting the old phone's data until the transfer result has been checked.
For a separate computer-based WhatsApp workflow, Dr.Fone - WhatsApp Transfer provides a dedicated WhatsApp transfer workflow.
