How to Fix WhatsApp QR Code Not Showing or Not Scanning for Chat Transfer
If a WhatsApp transfer QR code does not appear or scan, first confirm which transfer method you are using. A WhatsApp QR-code transfer and Apple's Move to iOS setup flow are different methods, so do not switch between them mid-transfer. If the WhatsApp flow you opened shows a QR code, troubleshoot that QR code directly rather than replacing it with the Move to iOS pairing code.
Fix the QR-code scan itself
- Raise the iPhone screen brightness so the QR code is easier for the other phone to read.
- Clean the scanning phone's camera lens and make sure you are scanning the QR code shown for the current WhatsApp transfer step.
- Remove anything covering the QR code area if it interferes with scanning.
- If the code still does not appear or scan, restart both phones and reopen the same WhatsApp transfer flow before trying again.
If you are moving from Android to iPhone with Move to iOS
Move to iOS uses the setup code shown on the iPhone, then the Transfer Data screen where WhatsApp can be selected. That is a different flow from scanning a WhatsApp QR code. Keep the iPhone factory new or freshly reset, use the same phone number for the migration, and keep both devices connected to power and the required network while Move to iOS runs.
Do not activate WhatsApp on the new iPhone before Move to iOS finishes. After the transfer and iPhone setup are complete, install the latest WhatsApp version from the App Store, sign in with the same number, and follow the import prompt. If Move to iOS itself force quits or fails, use Apple Support for the Move to iOS app issue.
For a separate computer-based WhatsApp workflow, Dr.Fone - WhatsApp Transfer provides a dedicated WhatsApp transfer workflow.
