How to Enable Gesture Navigation on Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Galaxy supports full-screen gesture navigation, giving you more screen real estate by hiding the navigation buttons. Here's how to switch to it.
How to Enable Gesture Navigation
- Go to Settings → Display → Navigation Bar.
- Select Swipe Gestures (instead of Button Navigation).
- Choose your preferred gesture style:
- Swipe from Sides and Bottom (Android standard)
- Swipe from Bottom Only (Samsung style)
Basic Gesture Controls
| Action | Gesture |
|---|---|
| Go Home | Swipe up from bottom |
| Go Back | Swipe left or right from screen edge |
| Open Recent Apps | Swipe up and hold from bottom |
| Switch apps | Swipe across bottom edge |
Customize Gesture Sensitivity
After enabling swipe gestures, tap Gesture Hints to show/hide small indicators at the bottom, and adjust Block Gesture Conflicts if gaming apps interfere.
Tip for Full-Screen Experience
Combine gesture navigation with hiding the status bar in certain apps (like video players) for a truly full-screen experience.
Switching Back to Buttons
Go to Settings → Display → Navigation Bar → Button Navigation at any time to return to the 3-button layout.
