How to Fix Samsung Galaxy Microphone Not Working During Calls

If callers can't hear you on your Samsung Galaxy, the Samsung microphone may be blocked, muted, or experiencing a software issue. Here's how to diagnose and fix it.

Step 1: Check for Physical Obstructions
  • Make sure the microphone hole (usually at the bottom of the phone) isn't blocked by your fingers, a case, or debris.
  • The Galaxy has multiple microphones (bottom, top, rear for video). Clean them gently with a soft brush.
Step 2: Test in Multiple Apps
  • Test during a phone call, in voice memo, and in WhatsApp/Telegram calls.
  • If the mic works in some apps but not others, the issue is app-specific permissions.
Step 3: Check App Microphone Permissions

Go to Settings → Privacy → Permission Manager → Microphone. Make sure your calling app has microphone access.

Step 4: Restart Your Phone

A system restart often restores microphone functionality after a software glitch.

Step 5: Test in Safe Mode

Boot into Safe Mode to confirm if a third-party app is hijacking the microphone.

Step 6: Check "Mute" Settings in Calls

During a call, verify the mute button in the dialer UI isn't accidentally activated.

Step 7: Update One UI

Microphone firmware bugs are sometimes patched in system updates. Check Settings → Software Update.

Step 8: Contact Samsung

If nothing works, the microphone hardware may be physically damaged — especially if the phone was recently exposed to water or dropped. Samsung Service Centers can diagnose this.

Dr.Fone Tip: If software conflicts are causing Samsung Galaxy microphone issues, Dr.Fone – System Repair can restore proper system functions.
