How to Fix Samsung Galaxy Not Sending Text Messages (SMS/MMS)

If your Samsung Galaxy can't send text messages or MMS (picture messages), the issue is usually related to app permissions, carrier settings, or an APN configuration problem. Here are the fixes.

Fix 1: Check Signal

You need at least 1–2 bars of cellular signal to send SMS. No signal = no texts.

Fix 2: Clear Messages App Cache

Go to Settings → Apps → Messages → Storage → Clear Cache and try sending again.

Fix 3: Check Message Center Number

Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → SIM Manager → [Your SIM] → Message Center Number. Contact your carrier for the correct number if it's blank or wrong.

Fix 4: Reset APN Settings for MMS

MMS requires correct APN settings. Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Access Point Names → Menu → Reset to Default.

Fix 5: Ensure MMS Is Enabled

In the Samsung Messages app → Settings → More Settings → Multimedia Messages → make sure MMS is enabled.

Fix 6: Switch Default SMS App

If you use a third-party SMS app, try switching back to the default Samsung Messages or Google Messages app: Settings → Apps → Default Apps → SMS App.

Fix 7: Check Wi-Fi Calling / RCS Conflict

Sometimes Wi-Fi calling or RCS (Chat features) conflicts with standard MMS. In Messages settings → disable Chat Features temporarily and test.

If none of these work, contact your carrier — there may be a provisioning issue on their end.

Dr.Fone Tip: Use Dr.Fone – System Repair to fix software-related Galaxy messaging issues that persist after carrier checks.
