How to Move Apps and Photos to SD Card on Samsung Galaxy
If your Samsung Galaxy has a microSD card and you're running low on internal storage, you can move apps and media files to the SD card.
Move Photos and Videos to SD Card
- Open the Camera app → Settings (gear icon).
- Tap Storage Location → SD Card.
- Future photos and videos will save directly to the SD card.
To move existing photos:
- Open Gallery → ☰ → Select items.
- Tap More → Move to SD Card.
Move Apps to SD Card
- Go to Settings → Apps.
- Select an app.
- Tap Storage → Change (if available).
- Select SD Card.
⚠️ Note: Not all apps support being moved to SD card. Samsung system apps and apps that need real-time access (like a launcher) cannot be moved.
Move Files with My Files
- Open My Files → Internal Storage.
- Navigate to folders (Downloads, Documents, etc.).
- Long-press files/folders → tap Move.
- Choose SD Card as destination.
Important Cautions
- Don't remove the SD card while apps stored on it are running — this causes crashes.
- Slower SD cards will make apps launch slower — use Class 10 or A2 cards.
- Formatting the SD card will erase all data on it.
