How to Use Adaptive Battery to Stop Apps Draining Power in Background
Samsung Galaxy's Adaptive Battery feature uses AI to learn which apps you use regularly and restricts background activity for apps you don't — saving battery without affecting your experience.
How to Enable Adaptive Battery
- Go to Settings → Battery and Device Care → Battery.
- Tap More Battery Settings.
- Toggle Adaptive Battery on.
How to Set Background Usage Limits
For more aggressive control:
- Go to Settings → Battery and Device Care → Battery → Background Usage Limits.
- You'll find three levels:
- Sleeping apps: Apps restricted when screen is off
- Deep sleeping apps: Apps almost never allowed in background
- Never sleeping apps: Always-on apps (like fitness trackers)
Add Apps to Deep Sleep
Tap Deep Sleeping Apps → Add Apps and select apps you rarely use actively but don't want to uninstall.
Don't Put in Deep Sleep:
- Weather apps (need background refresh)
- Navigation apps
- Fitness trackers
- Email clients (unless you check manually)
How Effective Is Adaptive Battery?
Most Galaxy users see 10–25% improvement in screen-on time after Adaptive Battery fully "learns" habits over 3–7 days of normal use.
