How to Insert a SIM Card or Set Up eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

Every Samsung Galaxy phone needs a SIM card to make calls and use mobile data. Modern Galaxy phones support both physical nano-SIM cards and eSIM digital SIMs.

Inserting a Physical Nano-SIM Card

What You Need

• SIM ejector pin (included in Galaxy box) or a thin paperclip
• Your nano-SIM card from your carrier

Step-by-Step

1. Locate the SIM tray: Usually on the left side of the phone (some models on the top or bottom).
2. Insert the ejector pin into the small hole on the SIM tray until the tray pops out.
3. Place your SIM card into the designated slot — nano-SIM only; the gold contacts should face down, notch aligned.
4. For Dual SIM models: Place the second SIM in the second slot.
5. Reinsert the tray firmly until it clicks — do not force it.
6. Power on the phone — the carrier name should appear in the status bar within 30–60 seconds.

Do not insert or remove the SIM while the phone is connected to a charger. Power off first for safety.
