How to Set Up Emergency SOS on Samsung Galaxy

Set up Samsung Galaxy Emergency SOS setup to enable SOS Samsung phone and Emergency SOS Galaxy. Configure Samsung safety features and Galaxy SOS button setup.

Samsung Galaxy's Emergency SOS feature can save lives — automatically calling emergency services and alerting your trusted contacts with your location when you're in danger or need help.

What Emergency SOS Does When Triggered

When Emergency SOS activates:

  1. Calls emergency services (911 in US, 999 in UK, etc.) automatically
  2. Sends a location-based emergency alert to your designated emergency contacts
  3. Shares your GPS location with emergency contacts via text message
  4. Activates the front and rear cameras to capture photos and video of the situation
  5. Starts audio recording for evidence (optional, configurable)
Setting Up Emergency SOS
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Safety and emergency (or search "Emergency SOS").
  3. Tap Emergency SOS.
  4. Toggle Use Emergency SOS to ON.
Configure Trigger Method

Choose how Emergency SOS activates:

  • Press side button 5 times quickly (recommended — impossible to do accidentally)
  • Hold side button + volume down simultaneously
Add Emergency Contacts
  1. In Emergency SOS settings, tap Manage emergency contacts.
  2. Tap Add emergency contact.
  3. Select from your Contacts — add 1–5 trusted people (family, close friends).
  4. These contacts receive your location and emergency alert automatically.
Enable Media Capture
  • Toggle Auto call emergency contacts ON — calls contacts even if 911 is not available.
  • Toggle Send SOS messages to emergency contacts ON.
  • Toggle Share location ON — GPS coordinates sent every 15 minutes during SOS.
  • Optional: Enable Record audio and Take pictures — captures evidence if you're in danger.
How to Test Emergency SOS (Without Calling 911)

You cannot fully test the 911 call without calling — but you can verify setup:

  1. Settings > Safety and emergency > Emergency SOS.
  2. Review all contacts and settings are correct.
  3. Test only the notification to personal contacts by having a family member ready.
