How to Set Up Samsung Kids Mode and Parental Controls on Galaxy

Samsung Kids Mode (Kids Home) transforms your Galaxy into a child-safe zone — with curated content, time limits, and parental controls that give you peace of mind while keeping children entertained safely.

What Samsung Kids Mode Provides
  • Child-safe interface: Bright, colorful design with age-appropriate apps
  • Curated content: Pre-approved Samsung Kids apps (drawing, music, stories)
  • Parental PIN required to exit — children cannot leave Kids Mode without the PIN
  • Screen time management: Set daily time limits
  • Usage reports: See which apps your child used and for how long
  • No in-app purchases within Kids Mode
  • Restricted contacts: Children can only call approved contacts
Setting Up Samsung Kids Mode
  1. Swipe down to the Quick Panel.
  2. Tap Kids (if not visible, tap + to add the tile) — or find it in Settings > Digital Wellbeing.
  3. Tap Start.
  4. Create a 4-digit parental PIN (different from your phone unlock PIN).
  5. Set up basic profile (child's name, optional photo).
  6. Kids Home activates.
Customizing Kids Mode

Once active, enter the parental settings:

  1. In Kids Home, tap the three-dot menu > Parental controls.
  2. Enter your parental PIN.
  3. Customize:

Allowed apps Add/remove apps children can access
Daily time limit Set total screen time (30 min–8 hours)
Bedtime Block usage during sleeping hours
Allowed contacts Set who children can call/message
Usage reports Review what your child accessed
Content rating Set age-appropriate content level
Adding Apps to Kids Mode
  1. Parental controls > Add app (Apps from phone).
  2. Select apps from your phone that are appropriate — YouTube Kids, Netflix Kids, educational apps.
  3. Avoid adding social media or games with in-app purchases.
Exiting Kids Mode

Press the Home button or Back button > tap Exit Kids Home > enter your parental PIN.

Additional Parental Control Tools

Samsung Kids Mode is great for young children (4–10). For older children:

  • Digital Wellbeing (Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls): Screen time, app timers, Focus mode
  • Google Family Link: More comprehensive parental controls across all apps and Google services (see separate article)
