How to Fix iPhone Headphone Jack Issues?

If your wired headphones aren't working, the problem is usually in the port, not the phone software.

Step 1: Check for Debris

This is the #1 cause. Pocket lint gets compacted into the Lightning port, preventing the headphone plug from seating fully.

Fix: Turn off the phone. Use a non-conductive pick (wooden toothpick) to gently scrape the bottom of the port. You will be surprised how much lint comes out.

Step 2: Check Audio Output Settings

Sometimes the phone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker nearby.

Fix: Open Control Center, tap the AirPlay icon (triangle with circles) in the music box, and ensure "Headphones" is selected instead of "iPhone" or a Bluetooth device.

Step 3: Try a Different Adapter

The Lightning-to-3.5mm adapters are fragile. Try your headphones with a different adapter or on a different phone to rule out cable failure.
