How to Check Xiaomi Phone Warranty Status and Claim a Repair
Xiaomi offers a 1-year global hardware warranty on most devices (2 years in some regions like the EU). Before paying for a repair, check if your phone is still covered — it takes less than two minutes.
Method 1 — Check via Mi Account (Fastest)
1. Go to account.xiaomi.com or open Settings → Mi Account → Manage devices.
2. Sign in with the Mi Account linked to your phone.
3. Select your device from the list.
4. The Purchase date and Warranty expiry date are displayed.
Method 2 — Check via IMEI Number
1. Dial *#06# on your Xiaomi phone — the IMEI number appears.
2. Go to imei.info or mi.com/global/support/imei.
3. Enter your IMEI.
4. Results show device model, purchase region, and warranty status.
Note: IMEI check only confirms the device is genuine Xiaomi and shows the manufacture date — it may not always show exact expiry. Mi Account method is more accurate.
What Xiaomi's Warranty Covers
✅ Manufacturing defects
✅ Hardware failures under normal use
✅ Screen/display faults (dead pixels, spontaneous cracks)
✅ Battery failure below 80% capacity within warranty period
❌ Not covered:
- Cracked screen from drops
- Water damage (even on IP68 devices)
- Rooted/custom ROM devices
- Damage from unauthorised repairs
How to Book a Warranty Repair
Step 1 — Find an authorised service centre
- Go to mi.com/global/support → Service centre locator.
- Enter your country/city.
- Visit only Xiaomi Authorised Service Centres — third-party shops may void your warranty.
Step 2 — Prepare before visiting
- Back up all data (repairs may require factory reset).
- Remove Mi Account and Google Account (prevents device being locked post-repair).
- Bring original proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation).
- Note your IMEI number.
Step 3 — At the service centre
- Show CIT test results (from *#*#6484#*#*) if you ran them — this helps technicians quickly identify the fault.
- Request a repair estimate in writing before authorising.
- Ask for a job card reference — use this to track repair status online.
International Warranty
Xiaomi offers an International Warranty Service (IWS) for select models. Check your phone's packaging or mi.com/global/support/xiaomi-iws for eligible models.
If you are outside your home country, the IWS covers you at Xiaomi authorised centres globally — but you must show the original purchase receipt.
Pro Tip
If the service centre quotes a high price for accidental damage, use tools like Dr.Fone – System Repair first for software issues before committing to a hardware repair fee.
