How to Connect Xiaomi Phone to Xiaomi Smart Home Devices (IoT)
Xiaomi's ecosystem includes hundreds of smart home devices — lights, robot vacuums, air purifiers, TVs, and more — all controllable from your phone.
Step 1 – Install the Xiaomi Home App
- China: Xiaomi Home — pre-installed or available on GetApps.
- Global: Mi Home — available on Google Play Store.
- Both apps use the same Mi Account.
Step 2 – Sign In with Mi Account
- Open Xiaomi Home / Mi Home.
- Sign in with your Mi Account (same account as your phone).
- Set your region correctly — region affects available devices and server routing.
Step 3 – Add a Smart Device
- Tap the + button (top right) → Add device.
- Choose category or scan the QR code on the device packaging.
- Follow the in-app setup wizard:
- Connect device to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (most Xiaomi IoT devices use 2.4 GHz only).
- Name the device and assign it to a room. - Device appears in the home dashboard.

Creating Automation Routines
Automate devices based on time, location, or sensor triggers:
1. Mi Home → Automation tab → +.
2. Set trigger (e.g., time = 7:00 AM, or phone arrives home).
3. Set action (e.g., turn on lights, start air purifier).
4. Save → automation runs automatically.
HyperOS Integration
On Xiaomi phones with HyperOS 2+:
- Smart devices appear in Control Center (quick settings panel).
- Swipe down → smart home section → one-tap control without opening the app.
Pro Tips
- Xiaomi IoT devices require 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for pairing — if your router broadcasts only 5 GHz or a combined SSID, temporarily enable a separate 2.4 GHz SSID.
- Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control is supported by most Xiaomi smart devices — link accounts in Mi Home settings.
