How to Connect Xiaomi Phone to Xiaomi Smart Home Devices (IoT)

Xiaomi's ecosystem includes hundreds of smart home devices — lights, robot vacuums, air purifiers, TVs, and more — all controllable from your phone.

Step 1 – Install the Xiaomi Home App

• China: Xiaomi Home — pre-installed or available on GetApps.
• Global: Mi Home — available on Google Play Store.
• Both apps use the same Mi Account.

Step 2 – Sign In with Mi Account

1. Open Xiaomi Home / Mi Home.
2. Sign in with your Mi Account (same account as your phone).
3. Set your region correctly — region affects available devices and server routing.

Step 3 – Add a Smart Device

1. Tap the + button (top right) → Add device.
2. Choose category or scan the QR code on the device packaging.
3. Follow the in-app setup wizard:
   - Connect device to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (most Xiaomi IoT devices use 2.4 GHz only).
   - Name the device and assign it to a room.
4. Device appears in the home dashboard.

- Smart devices appear in Control Center (quick settings panel).

Pro Tips

• Xiaomi IoT devices require 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for pairing — if your router broadcasts only 5 GHz or a combined SSID, temporarily enable a separate 2.4 GHz SSID.
