How to Edit and Annotate Screenshots on Xiaomi HyperOS
Xiaomi's built-in screenshot editor lets you annotate, crop, blur, and share screenshots instantly — no third-party app needed.
Taking a Screenshot
- Three-finger swipe down (recommended — works in any app).
- Power + Volume Down (hardware shortcut).
- Quick Settings → Screenshot tile.
Opening the Screenshot Editor
Immediately after taking a screenshot:
1. A thumbnail preview appears in the bottom-left corner.
2. Tap the thumbnail within 3 seconds → the editor opens.
Or: open from Gallery → Screenshots folder → tap Edit.
Editing Tools Available
| Tool | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Crop | Trim screenshot to any size or ratio |
| Pen / Marker | Draw arrows, circles, freehand annotations |
| Text | Add typed text labels |
| Mosaic / Blur | Blur sensitive info (faces, IDs, phone numbers) |
| Highlight | Yellow highlight over text |
| Stickers | Add emoji or preset stickers |
| Undo / Redo | Step back through edits |
How to Blur Sensitive Information
- Open screenshot editor → tap Mosaic tool.
- Choose mosaic style: pixel blur or smear blur.
- Draw over the area to blur — covers text, faces, account numbers.
- Tap Done.
Always blur personal data (bank details, phone numbers, addresses) before sharing screenshots publicly.
Sharing Directly After Editing
- After editing → tap Share icon.
- Select app (WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat, etc.).
- Screenshot is shared without saving a duplicate.
Or tap Save to keep the edited version in Gallery.
Pro Tips
- Use long screenshot (scrolling capture): after taking a screenshot, tap Scroll in the toolbar to extend the capture down the page.
- The text extractor (OCR) in HyperOS lets you copy any text from a screenshot: tap the screenshot → tap Extract text icon.
- Annotations are non-destructive in the editor — original is preserved until you tap Save.
