How to Identify If Your Xiaomi Phone Is a Global or Chinese (CN) Version
Buying a Xiaomi phone online? Here's exactly how to verify whether you have the Global ROM or the Chinese CN ROM version.
Method 1 – Check Model Number Suffix
- Settings → About phone → Model.
- Look at the model suffix:
| Suffix |
Version |
| Ends in G (e.g., 2311DRN4G) |
Global |
| Ends in C or CN |
Chinese (CN) |
| Ends in I |
India |
| Ends in EEA |
European (Global variant) |
| No suffix or number only |
Usually CN |
Method 2 – Check ROM in Settings
- Settings → About phone → MIUI version / HyperOS version.
- If it says Global in the version name → Global ROM.
- If it shows Chinese characters or no "Global" label → CN ROM.
Method 3 – Check Language Options
- Settings → Additional settings → Language & input → Language.
- Global ROM: shows English, European languages, Arabic, etc. as top options.
- CN ROM: shows only Chinese (Simplified/Traditional) as default, limited other languages.
Method 4 – Check Google Services Presence
- Open Settings → Apps → Manage apps → search for "Google Play Services".
- Present and active → Global ROM with Google services.
- Absent or inactive → CN ROM.
Method 5 – Check MIUI/HyperOS ROM Region (Developer Options)
- Enable Developer Options (tap MIUI version 7×).
- Developer Options → Mi Log or check Build number string.
- Global builds contain "global" in the build tag.
