How to Use Hyper Island on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 (Dynamic Notification Zone)
Hyper Island is Xiaomi's answer to Apple's Dynamic Island, introduced in HyperOS 3. It turns the camera-cutout area at the top of your screen into an interactive notification hub — showing live music controls, delivery tracking, countdown timers, and more.
Is Your Device Supported?
Hyper Island is available on HyperOS 3-compatible Xiaomi flagships with a punch-hole or pill-shaped front camera, including:
- Xiaomi 15 / 15 Pro / 15 Ultra
- Xiaomi 14T / 14T Pro (via OTA update)
- Xiaomi 13T series (select regions)
Devices with notch or under-display camera do not support Hyper Island.
How to Check If Hyper Island Is Active
1. Go to Settings → Notifications → Hyper Island.
2. If the toggle is present, your device supports it. Toggle it On.
How It Works
Hyper Island activates automatically when a supported app triggers a live activity:
| App / Feature | What Hyper Island Shows |
|---|---|
| Music (Spotify, YouTube Music) | Album art, play/pause, track name |
| Clock – Timer | Countdown with tap-to-expand |
| Navigation (Google Maps) | Next turn indicator |
| Food/Package delivery | Order status pill |
| Phone call | Active call duration |
Tap the island to expand it into a larger card. Long-press to pin it to the notification panel.
Step-by-Step: Trigger Hyper Island
1. Enable Hyper Island in Settings (see above).
2. Start playing music in Spotify or YouTube Music.
3. The camera area transforms into a music-control pill within a few seconds.
4. Tap it once to expand the full player.
5. Swipe it away to dismiss without stopping playback.
Customising Hyper Island
- Which apps appear: Settings → Notifications → Hyper Island → App permissions — toggle individual apps on/off.
- Expand behaviour: Set whether a single tap expands or opens the full app.
- Always-on: Keep the island visible even when the screen is dimmed.
Why Hyper Island Is Actually Useful
Unlike simple notification dots, Hyper Island gives you glanceable real-time info without pulling down the notification shade. For delivery tracking, timers, or calls, it saves several taps per interaction across the day.
Pro Tip
If Hyper Island does not appear after enabling it, make sure the triggering app has notification permission and background activity allowed in Battery settings. Some aggressive battery profiles block live-activity updates.
