How to Enable and Use NFC Transit Card (Bus/Metro) on Xiaomi Phone
Many Xiaomi phones with NFC can store virtual transit cards for contactless bus and metro payments — replacing your physical transit card.
Step 1 – Confirm NFC Support
- Settings → Connection & sharing — look for NFC toggle.
- If NFC is listed, your model supports it. If not, the feature is not available on your device.
NFC is available on Xiaomi 12/13/14/15 series, Redmi Note 12/13 Pro+ and higher, most POCO F/X series.
Step 2 – Enable NFC
- Settings → Connection & sharing → NFC → toggle on.
- Or: swipe down Quick Settings → tap NFC tile.
Step 3 – Open Xiaomi Wallet / Mi Wallet
- Open Xiaomi Wallet (pre-installed) or search it in GetApps.
- In some regions: Settings → NFC → Open payment application.
Step 4 – Add Transit Card
- In Xiaomi Wallet → Transit card / Transport.
- Select your city and transit system from the list.
- Tap Add card → follow the activation steps (may require a top-up).
- Top up balance using linked bank card or Alipay/WeChat Pay (China) / local payment method.
Supported Transit Systems (Examples)
| Region | Supported Systems |
|---|---|
| China | Beijing subway, Shanghai Metro, Shenzhen MTR, 300+ cities |
| Singapore | EZ-Link (select models) |
| Hong Kong | Octopus (select models) |
| Europe | Varies by carrier and model |
| US | Limited — check regional availability |
Using the Card
- Wake screen (full unlock not required for transit in most regions).
- Tap phone against the NFC reader on the gate.
- Card balance deducts automatically.
In China: some transit cards work screen-off — enable this in Wallet → Transit card settings → Allow offline use.
Pro Tips
- Not all Xiaomi phones sold outside China include the transit card function — check regional availability in Xiaomi Wallet.
- Keep NFC enabled for daily transit use — it has minimal battery impact.
