How to Use iPhone Private Browsing?
What Private Browsing Does (and Doesn't) Do
Private Browsing prevents Safari from saving your history, search, and some website data on your device.
It does NOT hide your activity from your ISP, employer network, or the websites you visit.
Enable Private Browsing in Safari
- Open Safari.
- Tap the Tabs button.
- Switch Tab Groups to Private.
- Tap + to open a new private tab.
When to Use It
- Signing into a shared device temporarily.
- Reducing saved cookies/history on your iPhone.
Privacy Upgrades (If You Want More)
- Turn on Prevent Cross-Site Tracking: Settings > Safari.
- Consider a VPN on public Wi‑Fi.
- Use strong passcode + Face ID/Touch ID to protect your device itself.
