How to Back Up Samsung Galaxy Data to Cloud or PC [2026]
Regular backups protect your Samsung Galaxy data against loss from factory resets, damage, or theft. Here are the best methods.
Method 1: Samsung Cloud (Wireless, Automatic)
- Go to Settings → Accounts and Backup → Back Up Data (under Samsung Cloud).
- Select which data to back up: contacts, messages, settings, apps, calendar, notes.
- Tap Back Up Now for a manual backup, or enable Auto Backup for automatic daily backups.
What Samsung Cloud Backs Up:
- Contacts, calendar, notes, reminders
- Phone settings and home screen layout
- Samsung Gallery photos (if enabled)
- Does NOT backup third-party app data (WhatsApp chats, game progress)
Method 2: Smart Switch on PC (Full Backup)
- Download Samsung Smart Switch on your PC or Mac.
- Connect Galaxy via USB-C.
- In Smart Switch: click Back Up.
- This creates a complete snapshot — apps, media, settings, messages.
What Smart Switch Backs Up:
- Everything Samsung Cloud backs up
- App data (including some third-party apps)
- SMS and call logs
- Photos and videos (full quality)
Method 3: Google Account Backup
Go to Settings → Accounts and Backup → Backup Data (under Google). Backs up app data, contacts (Gmail), and photos (Google Photos).
