How to Completely Uninstall Apps & Remove Data on Samsung Galaxy [2026]

Simply uninstalling an app on Samsung Galaxy doesn't always remove all associated files. Here's how to do a complete, clean removal.

Standard Uninstall (Removes App, Some Data Remains)
  1. Long-press the app icon → tap Uninstall → confirm.
  2. Or: Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Uninstall.
Complete Removal (App + All Data)

Before uninstalling, clear all data first:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Storage.
  2. Tap Clear Data → confirm. (This removes settings, saved files, login data.)
  3. Tap Clear Cache.
  4. Now go back and tap Uninstall.
Find and Delete Leftover Files

Some apps create folders in internal storage:

  1. Open My Files → Internal Storage.
  2. Look for folders named after the app (e.g., "WhatsApp," "TikTok," "Snapchat").
  3. Long-press → Delete.
Check for App-Created Albums in Gallery

Some apps create photo albums:

  1. Open Gallery → Albums.
  2. Look for albums named after the uninstalled app.
  3. Long-press and delete those albums if they contain media you don't need.
Apps That Are Hard to Fully Remove
  • Facebook: Even after uninstalling, may leave SDK data in other apps
  • TikTok: Creates a TikTok folder — delete manually
  • WhatsApp: Creates a large WhatsApp folder with all media — delete manually from My Files

For a thorough clean, use Device Care storage analyzer after uninstalling.
