How to Remove Bloatware on Samsung Galaxy [2026]
Samsung Galaxy ships with many pre-installed apps — some are useful, others are carrier bloatware that take up storage and RAM. Here's how to remove or disable them.
Uninstall vs. Disable: What's the Difference?
- Uninstall: Completely removes the app (available for user-installed apps and some Samsung apps)
- Disable: Hides the app and stops it from running (for system apps that can't be uninstalled)
How to Uninstall an App
- Long-press the app icon on the home screen → tap Uninstall.
- Or: Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Uninstall.
How to Disable a System App (Can't Uninstall)
- Go to Settings → Apps.
- Tap the app (e.g., Bixby, Samsung Daily, Facebook).
- Tap Disable → confirm.
- The app disappears from your app drawer and stops running in background.
Common Bloatware Safe to Disable
| App | Safe to Disable? |
|---|---|
| Bixby Voice | ✅ Yes (if you don't use it) |
| Samsung Daily/News | ✅ Yes |
| Carrier-branded apps | ✅ Usually yes |
| Facebook (pre-installed) | ✅ Yes |
| Microsoft apps (if pre-installed) | ✅ Yes |
| Samsung Pay | ⚠️ Only if you don't use it |
Do NOT Disable:
- Samsung Knox, Samsung Pay (if you use it), Samsung Account, Device Care, Smart Switch
For Carrier-Locked Phones
Some carrier apps can't be disabled through settings. Root access or ADB commands can remove them, but this voids your warranty.
