Turning off your phone should stop Life360 from following your movements. But why does your location sometimes remain visible, hours after the device shuts down? How Does Life360 Track Your Location?

Life360 calculates your phone's location through GPS satellites. According to GPS, more location accuracy is achieved by utilizing nearby Wi-Fi networks and mobile phone towers for this purpose.

When the app combines these signals, it can determine your device's position and send location updates to members of your Circle. However, Life360 works differently when your phone is off, as a powered-down device cannot collect or transmit new location updates.

Part 2: Does Life360 Work When Your Phone Is Off?

Life360 is unable to track your live location if your phone has been switched off. Turning off your device stops GPS updates and prevents the app from sending your new location to your Circle.

However, a Life360 phone-off situation doesn't mean your previous whereabouts disappear. The app may still display your Life360 last location, allowing Circle members to see where your phone was before it shut down.

Depending on your subscription, premium Life360 members may also see locations recorded over the last 30 days.

How to Change Your GPS Location Using Teleport Mode

Follow these steps based on the official Dr.Fone Teleport Mode guide:

1. Step 1 Download and Launch Dr.Fone

How to Simulate GPS Movement

For a moving virtual location, follow the GPS movement guide:

1. Step 1 Open Dr.Fone and Select Route Simulation

   Open Dr.Fone – Virtual Location and select a route simulation mode.

   

2. Step 2 Choose Start and Destination

   Choose your starting point and destination, adding stops if needed.

3. Step 3 Adjust Movement Speed

   Adjust the movement speed.

4. Step 4 Begin the Simulation

   Begin the simulation to shift the reported GPS position along the route that you chose.

Dr. Fone alters GPS coordinates of supported devices, but Life360 may not always accept the changed location. The result is based upon the compatibility of the device and how the app behaves.

Method 2: Enable Airplane Mode to Interrupt Location Updates

Airplane Mode quickly interrupts Life360's internet connection without shutting down your device.

1. Step 1 Open Control Center or Quick Settings

Method 3: Turn Off Location Services for Life360

You can also prevent Life360 from accessing your location through your phone's permission settings. This method lets you use other phone features without turning off the device.

For iPhone:

1. Step 1 Open Settings and Select Privacy & Security

   Open Settings and select Privacy & Security.

2. Step 2 Tap Location Services

   Tap Location Services.

3. Step 3 Set Life360 to Never

   Find Life360 and choose Never.

For Android:

1. Step 1 Open Settings and Go to Apps

   Open Settings and go to Apps.

2. Step 2 Select Life360 and Tap Permissions

   Select Life360, then tap Permissions.

3. Step 3 Set Location to Don't Allow

   Choose Location and select Don't allow.

Once you disable location permission, Life360 cannot access your GPS location normally. However, Circle members may see a location-permission warning, and some safety features may stop working.

Turning off your phone doesn't remove your digital traces. Life360 will stop receiving live GPS updates, but you may still be able to view your last location and prior location history.
